Within the framework of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s efforts to improve the quality of education and enhance the Algerian university’s alignment with international standards, and in line with the University of Health Sciences – Dr. Youcef El-Khatib’s pursuit of international accreditation for its faculties of medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry, the university’s rector, Professor Ghernaout Merzouk, received Professor Gargouri Jalal, the European Union representative responsible for the University of Health Sciences’ accreditation file, at the university’s headquarters. Professor Taliba Souhail, head of the national committee tasked with evaluating and accrediting faculties of medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry, accompanied the delegation.

The delegation oversaw a comprehensive evaluation day dedicated to assessing the faculties of medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry, a step reflecting a serious commitment to keeping pace with international standards in education and higher learning.

The meeting began with a welcoming address by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Laatafi Rachid, on behalf of the University Rector, Professor Garnaout Merzouk. This was followed by remarks from Professor Taliba Souhail, Head of the National Committee, and then Professor Gargouri Jalal, representative of the European Union.

The event included detailed evaluation presentations, namely:

A presentation of the Faculty of Dentistry report by the Dean, Professor Dradji Farid.

A presentation of the Faculty of Medicine report by the Dean, Professor Bouali Faisal.

A presentation of the Faculty of Medicine evaluation results by Professor Ghazali Ahlem.

A presentation of the Faculty of Pharmacy report by the Head of the Pharmacy Department, Professor Cherif Radouane.

The meeting was held in the presence of the University Rector, Professor Ghernaout Merzouk, the Vice Rectors, the Secretary General, the Deans of the Faculties, along with the administrative staff, department and cell leaders, professors, student representatives, and scientific clubs, in a distinguished academic atmosphere reflecting a spirit of cooperation and collective engagement in the pursuit of excellence.

Following the conclusion of the evaluation day, the pedagogical facilities of the faculties were inspected, including the simulation center, pedagogical laboratories, the library, and other facilities.

In conclusion, through this initiative, the University of Health Sciences reaffirms its ongoing commitment to developing its educational system and strengthening its position among internationally recognized universities.
