The University of Health Sciences, named after Mujahid Dr. Youcef El Khatib, hosted the third forum of the National Organization of Algerian Midwives, organized to commemorate International Midwives Day, under the patronage of the Minister of Health, and under the theme: “Towards Zero Preventable Maternal and Newborn Deaths.” The first day of the forum, Saturday, May 2, 2026, witnessed a distinguished official and scientific presence, including the organization’s president, Ms. Belkroun Leila; the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Bouali Faisal; the representative of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Yahia Cherif Mourad; and the forum’s president, Professor Oukid Mohamed Said, along with a select group of professors and specialists in various medical fields.
The scientific program included specialized lectures in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and forensic medicine, addressing the latest scientific developments and ways to improve maternal and newborn health care and prevent avoidable complications. Midwives and members of the organization participated in an interactive scientific environment. The forum continues on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
