Early on Sunday morning, May 17, 2026, in the lecture hall at the University of Health Sciences, the university’s rector, Professor Gharnaout Marzouk, accompanied by the deputy director of initial training, Mr. Yahya Sharif Murad, the deputy director in charge of mental health promotion at the Ministry of Health, Mr. Chakali Mohamed, and Professor Masoudi Abdelkarim, the program coordinator, a representative of the General Directorate of National Security, a representative of the National Office for the Fight Against Drugs and Drug Addiction, Professor Zbech Younes, a member of the International Narcotics Control Board, and the Director of the Sharqia Specialized Hospital, presided over the official launch of the program of study and training leading to a specialized degree in medical sciences, with a concentration in addiction science.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Vice President for Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Hashemi Maouch; the Vice President for External Relations, Professor Dlasi; as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Bouali Faisal; the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Professor Daraji Farid; and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Jijik Reda, in addition to the professors supervising the program.

Also in attendance at the launch ceremony was a delegation from the Ministry of Health’s Training Directorate, led by Ms. Amroun, along with the physicians involved in this training, in a move aimed at strengthening scientific supervision and advancing specialized training in the field of addiction science.
