This evening, Monday 13 July 2026, the Apostille Office was opened at the University of Health Sciences ‘Al-Mujahid Dr Yusuf Al-Khatib’, following the announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs regarding the entry into force for Algeria, with effect from 9 July 2026, of the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (the Apostille Convention).

Under this Convention, public documents issued by a number of ministerial departments, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and intended for use in States Parties to the Convention, are no longer subject to traditional consular legalisation procedures.

This measure covers various documents issued by higher education institutions under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as part of efforts to streamline administrative procedures for the benefit of students and researchers.
