As part of the pedagogical support provided to national institutes of higher paramedical training and midwifery colleges, a national working meeting was held today, Wednesday 29 July 2026, at the Faculty of Medicine in the province of Oran, attended by the Director of Training at the Ministry of Health, the Director of Higher Education at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Director of the University of Health Sciences, alongside the deans of medical faculties nationwide, and the directors of the national institutes for higher paramedical training and midwifery colleges.

This meeting was dedicated to evaluating the outcomes of pedagogical support during the past academic year and examining the action plan for the 2026–2027 academic year, as part of ongoing efforts to reform the training system and enhance the quality of higher education in the health professions.

The working session saw a discussion of various concerns and proposals put forward by the directors of the institutes and the deans of medical faculties; these constructive discussions resulted in a series of measures and decisions aimed at improving the training system, the most important of which are:

* The implementation of new degree programmes at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, to commence from the 2026–2027 academic year.

* The strengthening and development of pedagogical support mechanisms to ensure the quality of training and its alignment with academic and professional standards.

* Drawing up a national plan for pedagogical supervision aimed at improving practical training within healthcare institutions.

* Establishing initial training as one of the fundamental pillars for improving the quality of healthcare and enhancing the services provided to patients.

* To incorporate the training of paramedical staff, midwives and public health anaesthesia practitioners into the field of health sciences from the start of the next academic year, whilst adopting the Master’s degree as the training pathway for public health anaesthesia practitioners.
