On Saturday evening, December 20, 2025, Mr. Mustafa Haidaoui, Minister of Youth in charge of the Supreme Council for Youth, presided over the official opening of the first national competition for medical students in Algeria, organized by the INITIO Club of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Health Sciences, Mujahid Dr. Youssef El Khatib, in Algiers.
This is under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and the Supreme Council for Youth.
This national scientific event will be held from December 20 to 23, 2025, with the participation of 15 medical colleges from various states of the country, and with the attendance of 90 male and female students, in a competitive atmosphere aimed at highlighting young medical talents and promoting the spirit of scientific cooperation.
In his opening remarks, the Minister expressed his pride in this unique initiative, emphasizing that true investment lies in the minds of young people, and that medical students represent a fundamental pillar for the future of the healthcare system in Algeria. He also commended the vital role played by university scientific clubs.
He considered that such initiatives reflect the awareness of Algerian youth and their ability to innovate, organize and contribute effectively to building the nation.
The Minister added that the Ministry of Youth and the Supreme Council for Youth will continue to support all serious scientific youth initiatives that highlight the competencies of young people and open up horizons of excellence and leadership for them.

Professor Laatafi Rachid, the university's vice-rector in charge of pedagogy, on behalf of the director of the University of Health Sciences, Professor Garnaout Merzouk, affirmed that the University of Health Sciences encourages and supports these scientific initiatives, as they provide a comprehensive space for medical students from various states of the country to exchange experiences and knowledge, and to promote a spirit of cooperation and constructive scientific competition.
Professor Bouali Faysal, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, along with Professor Mansouri Kamal, Vice-Rector of the University, emphasized the university’s support and encouragement for such initiatives that promote scientific exchange and interaction between students from different faculties.
This event took place in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Youth and the Supreme Council for Youth, along with the Secretary-General of the University, deans of faculties, secretaries-general of faculties, and administrative staff, in a clear affirmation of institutional support for this national scientific initiative.
The organization of this competition comes within the framework of supporting young talents, encouraging the spirit of scientific competition, and establishing a culture of excellence and innovation among students, which contributes to national development and enhances the status of the Algerian university.
