Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of Student Day (May 19, 1956 – 2026)
At Mujahid Dr. Youssef Al-Khatib University of Health Sciences
On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the University of Health Sciences Dr. Youssef Al-Khatib organized a special celebration to mark the 70th anniversary of Students’ Day, under the slogan: “A Legacy of Struggle and a Journey of Construction,” in the presence of the University President, Professor Gharnaout Marzouk.
The event was attended by:
Dr. Bouzidi Kamal, member of the Supreme Islamic Council,
Dr. Lakhmisi Bazaz, Secretary-General of the Association of Scholars, Preachers, and Imams of the Sahel,
Dr. Bab Issa Jounay, researcher at the Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Geophysics,
Mr. Hamza Belayeb, Director of Documentation and Media at the Supreme Islamic Council,
as well as the Vice Presidents of the University, the University Secretary General, the deans of the colleges, the administrative staff, professors, and students.
The celebration’s program included a series of meaningful scientific and intellectual lectures, during which Dr. Bouzidi Kamal delivered a lecture titled: “Reconciliation in the University Environment,” in which he addressed the importance of fostering a culture of dialogue and tolerance within the university community and reinforcing the values of understanding and cooperation among the various components of the university family.
Dr. Lakhmisi Bazaz also delivered a lecture titled: “Ethical Values in the University Environment,” in which he emphasized the importance of ethics as a fundamental pillar in building a healthy university environment and its role in instilling the values of respect, responsibility, and discipline, thereby contributing to the formation of a university generation that is conscious and distinguished both academically and behaviorally.
In the same vein, Dr. Bab Issa Jounay delivered a fascinating academic lecture on astronomy and its importance in understanding cosmic phenomena and modern scientific developments, which drew widespread interest from students and attendees.
Professor Shalgoum Samir also delivered a presentation titled “Algerian Students During the Liberation Revolution,” in which he reviewed the militant and historical role of Algerian students during the liberation revolution and their contributions to the struggle for independence.
The ceremony also featured a scientific exhibition organized by the Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Geophysics, which showcased a collection of scientific publications and media highlighting the center’s key activities and research areas. The exhibition garnered significant interest and engagement from attendees and students.
This occasion served as a significant national milestone to commemorate the sacrifices of Algerian students during the glorious revolution and to reaffirm the commitment to continuing the march of science and nation-building in fulfillment of the martyrs’ mission and in service to the nation.
